Microstructure and Properties of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing of Inconel 625

In the present investigation, wire arc additive manufacturing of Inconel 625 was carried out with cold metal transfer variant inert gas process. The heat input varied between 0.46 and 0.63 kJ/mm, which is a rather low deposition rate. built walls were subjected to Charpy V crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) fracture toughness testing, in addition microstructure examination light microscope scanning transmission electron microscope. results obtained show that hardness increases from base level 210, via heat-affected zone (in building plate) HV 220, weld metal, around 240–250. All individual values fall within range 160 200 J, while CTOD 0.49 1.05 mm. revealed microsegregation certain elements interdendritic regions, causing three different particle types form. Particles spherical morphology identified as spinel (MgAl2O4). Some particles surrounded by disc-shaped precipitates, (NbTi)(CN), having same orientation spinel.
